Choose and record the source revision
Start with an approved manual for one model or product family. Record its title, revision, date and applicability. Keep an accessible link to the original document where distribution is permitted. If the diagram belongs to an older variant, settle that difference before publishing a new interface.
Extract the diagram and its parts list
Keep illustration positions connected to the original reference list. Review OCR output manually: a misread zero, letter O or hyphen can change a part number. Preserve separate assemblies, repeated callouts and quantities. Do not infer dimensions or materials from the image when the documentation omits them.
Build the part-record mapping
For each selectable callout, store the official reference, description, model applicability, quantity and source revision. A single callout may map to more than one variant; a visual selection should open a choice or confirmation step when that ambiguity exists. Treat missing data as a review task, not a reason to fabricate a value.
